Woolworths has announced it will add an extra 105 products to its “Lower Shelf Price” scheme this week.
The move expands the range to more than 1000 products.
In a statement, the supermarket chain said that, unlike temporary promotions, the Lower Shelf Price scheme was based on “longer-term reductions on standard shelf prices”.
It said the prices for Lower Shelf Price products were, on average 16.4 percent lower than their previous standard shelf price.
Woolworths Group CEO Amanda Bardwell said core items like mince, chicken and eggs had been added to the program.
“Lower Shelf Price is giving customers lower prices for longer, and we’ve seen more and more people adding these products to their trolley to spend less on everyday household essentials,” Ms Bardwell said.
“We are committed to continuing to provide meaningful value to families on the products that are most important in their weekly shop.”
