Brisbane Airport will get two new hotels, with one to link directly with the international terminal, and another positioned next to DFO Skygate.
The hunt is on for experienced hotel operators to manage the properties which have been developed to take the pressure off the site’s other three hotels which are constantly at capacity.
Brisbane Airport Executive General Manager Commercial Scott Norris said each location offered unique advantages for operators wanting a presence at Queensland’s busiest gateway.
“Long-term, Brisbane requires thousands of new hotel rooms ahead of the 2032 Olympics, and so we’re highly confident the airport can support five hotels,” Mr Norris said.
“Brisbane Airport links to more domestic destinations than anywhere else in Australia, allowing operators to tap into built-in, year-round demand that provides long-term value.”
Mr Norris said demand was also increasing from business, leisure and event-driven travel.
2025 was Brisbane Airport’s busiest year on record, with 25 million passengers travelling through domestic and international terminals.
The two new hotel sites will be architecturally designed, with one located next to the International Terminal adjacent to a new multi-level carpark, and the second at the DFO Skygate retail and entertainment precinct.
The other three hotels at the airport are the Pullman Brisbane Airport, Novotel Brisbane Airport, and ibis Brisbane Airport.
JLL Hotels and Hospitality have launched the Hotel Operation selection, with proposals due by May 15.
