A blitz through Europe and the Middle East will aim to make Queensland businesses front of mind for decision-makers in those regions.
State Finance, Trade, Employment and Training Minister Ros Bates is set to lead a trade mission to the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and Europe, with more than 35 engagements planned for Dubai, London, Madrid and Frankfurt.
Minister Bates said the global mission would reinforce the new Queensland–Europe and United Kingdom Trade & Investment Strategy 2025–2028 and the state’s first global business brand, QueensLand of Opportunity.
“By meeting decision-makers face-to-face in the UAE, the UK and Europe, we’re making sure Queensland exporters have the access, the investment and the partnerships they need to grow,” she said.
Minister Bates said the aim was to build resilient supply chains and convert investment opportunities into long-term outcomes for the state.
She said there was a need to harness Queensland’s competitive edge across energy and resources, defence, aerospace, and digital innovation, and turn global engagement into local jobs and growth.
“One standout example is Brisbane-based Audeara, whose personalised hearing technology is now exported to Europe – a clear demonstration of Queensland’s leadership in digital health and innovation.”
Minister Bates said the trade mission would take advantage of the recent signing of the Australia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which presented new opportunities for Queensland businesses to sell their goods to customers in the UAE.
“Every agreement we secure and every relationship we strengthen flows back into local communities in the form of jobs, stronger industries and long-term prosperity.”
