Queensland agricultural biotechnology company Nbryo will receive a $2 million State Government investment to accelerate advanced cattle breeding technology.

The Government said the technology could reduce seven years of selective breeding into seven days.

The investment, managed by QIC, is part of the $30 million Sowing the Seeds of Farming Innovation Fund.

It will enable Nbyro to expands its technology to improve access to superior livestock genetics, reduced production costs and improved productivity for farmers.

Minister for Primary Industries Tony Perrett said the investment would support a more productive and profitable beef and dairy sector.

“As a beef producer myself, I know how important it is to maximise productivity and make every dollar count,” Mr Perrett said.

“Nbryo is developing technology that has the potential to make advanced breeding tools more accessible and affordable for producers, helping them improve herd performance and profitability.”

Nbryo Chief Executive Officer Paul Niven said the investment would support the company’s next phase of growth.

“Queensland has an incredible opportunity to lead the world in agricultural technology innovation,” he said.

“Translating scientific innovation into practical outcomes for farmers is at the core of our mission. Every improvement in reproductive efficiency has the potential to deliver significant benefits for producers, the supply chain and the broader agricultural sector.”
