A multi-million-dollar heavy equipment auction this week will feature an Australian record 3800 pieces of equipment.
Global equipment auctioneer Ritchie Bros will mark 30 years of operations in Australia with the live auction of heavy equipment, machinery and industrial assets.
United States-based RB Global Chief Executive Officer Jim Kessler, who will fly in for the event, said it was expected to be the company’s largest-ever live auction in Australia.
Mr Kessler said the auction, to be held in Geelong from June 18 to 20, would feature 3800 pieces of equipment, with no reserve on any item.
“This makes it the largest auction by lot count in the company’s Australian history, and is expected to attract more than 3000 attendees per day.”
He said to mark the anniversary, the event would include a return of Ritchie Bros.’ signature live theatre format, last held in 2019, with internationally renowned Canadian auctioneers flown in to lead the proceedings.
“Australia is an incredibly important part of our global network in terms of market activity, volume and demand.”
Mr Kessler said, in 2024 alone, Ritchie Bros. sold more than 15,000 lots across Australia, with strong growth across digital platforms and high-demand sectors.
Ritchie Bros. Asia-Pacific Sales Director Dom McGlinchey said the event was a clear demonstration of the scale the local division was capable of delivering.
