Mirvac will build the first build-to-rent project under a new Queensland Government program.
State Treasurer and Home Ownership Minister David Janetzki said the 396-apartment complex in Newstead was the first of three pilot projects that would provide more than 1200 new homes solely for Queensland renters.
“LIV Anura, built and managed by Mirvac, will include up to 99 affordable apartments at a reduced rate for eligible renters working within 10 kilometres of the site,” Minister Janetski said.
He said the new build featured studios, one and two-bedroom apartments across two buildings, 3000sqm of indoor and outdoor shared resident spaces and more than 1000sqm of boutique retail.
“Every Queenslander deserves a roof over their head, and we’re firmly focused on unlocking new land for housing, boosting home ownership and easing pressure for renters.”
Minister Janetzki said the Budget included an additional $1.967 billion to accelerate 53,500 social and community homes in the next two decades and permanent baseline funding of at least $500 million per year from 2029-30.
He said the Build to Rent Pilot Program was part of a $8.1 billion investment in housing over the next five years, and planned delivery of 1 million new homes by 2044.
Mirvac CEO and Managing Director Campbell Hanan said the development would be its first build-to-rent project in Queensland.
“Delivering a diverse range of housing supply that meets growing demand is key to improving access to housing for Queenslanders,” Mr Hanan said.
“LIV Anura is a great example of what can be achieved when industry and government work together.”
