Country music star Lee Kernaghan will kick up some red dust in outback Queensland as part of a government bid to boost tourism and support communities impacted by the March 2025 floods.
Kernaghan will headline two major shows – in Charleville on April 24, and Longreach on April 29 in the new campaign titled Outback Queensland. It’s Something Else.
He will also perform three pop-up gigs – at Jundah on March 27, Quilpie on March 28, and Thargomindah on March 29.
Unveiled ahead of peak travel season, the campaign spotlights the region’s breathtaking landscapes, unforgettable characters, and extraordinary experiences – inviting Australians to hit the road and holiday out west.
Mr Kernaghan said he was proud to support areas of outback Queensland that were among the hardest hit by the floods.
“The Spirit of the Bush community concerts will be a chance to bring people together from across Queensland,” Mr Kernaghan said in a statement.
“It’s a chance to show support and pay tribute to the spirit and resilience of these salt-of-the-earth communities.”
The campaign was filmed across nine local government areas – Barcoo, Bouila, Bulloo, Diamantina, Longreach, Murweh, Paroo, Quilpie, and Winton, and will run from March 1 to June 30, 2026.
It is part of a $2.1 million tourism recovery program funded by State and Federal governments.
