Jetstar direct flights between Brisbane and the Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport have started today.
The flights will take place three times a week, adding around 58,000 seats a year between the two cities.
The route will be operated by Jetstar’s A320 fleet. Almost three million people live in and around Western Sydney.
Brisbane Airport CEO Gert-Jan de Graaff said the new service meant Brisbane now serviced 64 domestic destinations, the most of any Australian airport.
“We’re proud that Brisbane is among the first destinations connected to Australia’s newest major airport,” he said.
“This new connection puts Queensland within even easier reach of millions of people in Western Sydney.”
Jetstar CEO Stephanie Tully said the new route would make it easier and more affordable to travel between the two regions.
“Queensland has always been a big part of the Jetstar story, and these new routes will bring thousands more people to and from the Sunshine State for less,” she said.
“More visitors means more people spending time and money with local businesses in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. And for Queenslanders heading south, it’s another easy, affordable option.”
