A new permanent market, styled on Melbourne’s famous Queen Victoria Market, is being developed in the Brisbane suburb of Hamilton.
A website has been established for Hamilton Markets at 5 Hercules St.
According to OnTheHouse, the site was sold on June 16, 2026 for $8 million.
The site is part of Northshore Hamilton priority development area and has previously been announced as the site of a 23-storey residential-led development known as “The Cullen”.
The site is adjacent to the existing Portside precinct and about 1km from the Eat Street Markets which open on weekends.
The Hamilton Markets website, which calls for expressions of interest from potential traders, says the new venue will be open Wednesday to Sunday.
It will seek to attract local residents, workers, visitors and tourists to around 43 stalls.
“We are creating a permanent market where the community connects, local producers thrive and every visit feels like a celebration of food, culture and the Queensland way of life,” the site says.
“This will be a carefully curated market—not a collection of interchangeable stalls.
“We are looking for quality food businesses, producers, artisans and hospitality operators with a clear point of view, proven products and the ambition to grow.”
All stalls in the market will be undercover and there are plans for regular events like cooking demonstrations and “seasonal programming”.
