Australia’s oldest family-owned chocolate maker – Haigh’s Chocolates – finally has a store in Brisbane.
The store at Westfield Mt Gravatt (formerly known as Garden City) opened on August 28, 2026.
Fans of the famous giant frogs can find the shopping centre on the corner of Logan and Kessels Rd, Upper Mount Gravatt.
Haigh’s Chocolates was founded by Alfred E. Haigh in Adelaide in 1915.
Alfred began producing chocolate-covered fruit centres in 1917 and, as the business expanded, established a small factory at Parkside in 1919.
The Parkside site remains home to Haigh’s factory and Visitor Centre.
In 1923, Haigh’s moved its city store to Adelaide’s Beehive Corner, which remains its flagship Adelaide store.
By 1933 the business had grown to six stores, and it traded through World War II despite shortages and sugar rationing.
Haigh’s expanded beyond South Australia in 1965, opening its first interstate store in Collins Street, Melbourne.
The business is now run by the fourth generation of the Haigh family.
It employs more than 850 people and operates more than 20 stores across Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, and now Brisbane.
