More than 2400 new housing lots have been approved across South-East Queensland this month, including hundreds in Brisbane’s inner city.
Deputy Premier and State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Minister Jarrod Bleijie said 1631 residential lots had been approved in the Greater Flagstone Priority Development Area (PDA), while 782 new homes had been given the green light in Indooroopilly and Milton.
Minister Bleijie said the Greater Flagstone PDA approvals would accommodate 4500 residents and also provide for infrastructure including a future State primary school, retail precincts and green spaces.
“Construction in Flagstone – one of South East Queensland’s fastest-growing regions – has already commenced,” he said.
Minister Bleijie said the inner-city developments were delivering affordable housing under build-to-rent models.
He said in Indooroopilly approval had been granted for 478 homes, 105 of which would be allocated to affordable housing.
“This development will feature residential units, shops, food and drink outlets, offices, a bar, 44 short-term accommodation units and a community-use space.”
Minister Bleijie said the Milton development included 304 units, 46 of which would be dedicated to affordable housing.
