The new Glasshouse Theatre at QPAC has been named Project of the Year at the 2026 Master Builders Queensland Housing & Construction Awards.

The landmark building won the award for Lendlease Construction, with the building also taking the gong for best Tourism & Leisure Facility worth over $10 million.

Tyson Building Group won House of the Year for its luxurious riverside residence, Azura, in Mooloolaba.

The showpiece house also won Best Residential Kitchen, Best Residential Swimming Pool, and best Individual Home over $10 million.

The house has “a dramatic roofline, organically curved forms and a seamless relationship with the water’s edge, the three-storey home is anchored by a sculptural staircase that curves through its centre”.

Another Sunshine Coast property, BABYLON, by St Andrews Constructions, took home the President’s Award.

BABYLON was described as a “showstopping canal-front home in the heart of Noosa Sound…overcoming below water-level construction to deliver an entertainer’s paradise, boasting a wine cellar, and a media room likened to an underground New York jazz bar, among its many enviable features”.

Hutchinson Builders claims six awards

Hutchinson Builders won six awards, the most of the night, including the new category of Prefabricated and Modular Commercial Project for Normanton Hospital.

Celebrating 40 years of building excellence

Master Builders CEO Sue-Ann Fresneda said many of the winners had “fittingly pushed the boundaries of what was possible”.

“Each home and project entered has set new benchmarks for construction quality, liveability and sustainability,” she said.

“Our individual category entrants ranged from fresh faces showing leadership beyond their years, to women smashing the glass ceiling, and rising stars setting the pace, spotlighting why our industry is such a great place to carve out a career.”

Eligible winners from the awards will be considered by the Australia’s National Excellence in Building & Construction Awards, to be held in Brisbane on November 27, 2026.
