The site of the former Bulimba Barracks is being transformed into a residential development with 800 dwellings.
New artist’s impressions for the site were recently released to provide a glimpse of what can be expected on the Apollo Rd, Bulimba site.
The area has a 534m northern boundary fronting the Brisbane River which will transformed into an elongated public park.
In the development application the planners, Ubris, said the proposed Riverside Park development had been designed in consideration of local needs and would enhance community health and wellbeing.
“Key design features have been included to transform the connectivity and permeability of the space. The development has been designed to enhance the lifestyle offering within the master planned development and will facilitate the retail and community development on the broader site.”
The application states it will include 3m-wide pedestrian and cycle-only pathways, as well as courtyard spaces with recreation and seating space and a children’s play area.
There are plans to re-use the existing boat ramps for social gatherings and provide a custom-built boat play structure, as well as a 5.7m high “Candlemaker Square”.
