A diverse mix of business leaders have been enlisted to form a new Queensland Small and Family Business Ministerial Reference Group.

State Small and Family Business Minister Steve Minnikin said the group, which replaces the Queensland Small Business Advisory Council, would serve as a vital consultation mechanism, providing real-world insights to contribute to government policies and programs.

Minister Minnikin, who will chair the group, said it was made up of champions and leaders of the small and family business sector.

He said the group held its first meeting this week and explored opportunities and challenges for business growth.

“The group’s members are from diverse industries across Queensland’s small business sector and are equipped with the skills needed to make expert contributions.”

Minister Minnikin said the Small and Family Business Ministerial Reference Group included:

  • Phil Di Bella: Hospitality / Industry Group (Brisbane).
  • Stacey Head: Manufacturing / Retail (Brisbane)
  • Tyler Krogh: Building and Construction (Hughenden).
  • Pauline Pickering : Accounting (Warwick).
  • Martin Roller: Automotive (Redcliffe).
  • Leanne Rudd: Accounting (Bundaberg).
  • Angela Scott: Building and Construction (Hervey Bay).
  • Terry Slaughter: Logistics, Retail (Springfield Lakes, Ipswich).
  • Joe Andon: Retail (Brisbane).

He said group would work alongside regional departmental services and program feedback channels to contribute to policies and deliver practical support for small and family businesses statewide.

“This group is about connecting directly with the people who know and are our small and family business owners.

“We want to drive a culture of awareness and consideration across government for the impacts of government decisions on our small business communities.”

Minister Minnikin said further members would be invited to join the group in the coming months.
