South-East Queenslanders have less than a month to have their say on the widening of a 10km stretch of the Logan Motorway, south of Brisbane.
In a statement, toll-road operators Transurban said they were working with the Queensland Government on the Logan West Upgrade, to widen the western section of the motorway, between Formation St and the Mount Lindesay Highway.
It said the widening aimed to ease growing congestion on the major arterial.
“If nothing is done to ease traffic congestion, by 2031, average peak-period speeds along key sections of the Logan Motorway will reduce to just 15km/h,” the statement said.
Consultation on the project is open until December 1, with information sessions planned for November 9, November 10 and December 1.
“Community feedback and insights are vital in helping us understand and address local priorities during the road upgrade’s design development, construction and operations,” Transurban said.
The statement said, if approved, construction was expected to commence in 2027 and be completed before the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games.
