A new careers platform has been launched specifically for Australia’s tourism and hospitality sector.

With workforce demand in the industry expected to grow by nearly 150,000 by 2033, eeger aims to ensuring the future sustainability of the visitor economy.

eeger General Manager Emilie Howe said the platform was a powerful new tool to attract, retain and train workers.

“eeger is more than a job platform – it’s built by industry, for industry. It’s a unique solution that centralises career, job and training information for our workforce needs – the first of its kind on a national scale.”

Ms Howe said the site brought together job vacancies, training programs and career development resources into one, easy-to-use, digital platform, connecting jobseekers, employers and educators across these rapidly growing sectors.

“We encourage all businesses in Tourism, Hospitality and Travel, no matter the size, to sign up and take advantage of the free eeger platform.”

Federal Trade and Tourism Minister Don Farrell said the groundbreaking initiative, which was the result of a $10 million Federal grant, would tackle long-standing workforce challenges for the sectors.

Minister Farrell said the visitor economy was vital to Australia, supporting over 706,000 jobs.

“That’s one in every 23 jobs across the nation (and) it underpins more than 360,000 businesses, from hotels to tour operators, cafes to cultural centres – these are businesses that keep our communities vibrant and connected.”
