Fast fashion takeover
Online fast fashion giant Shein has purchased US-based millennial brand Everlane for $100 million.
The move has shocked the fashion world struggling to understand the synergies between the two brands.
Everlane has been sold on “radical transparency,” sourcing “only the finest materials” and partnering with “ethical factories around the world,” while Shein is known for its cheap synthetic products, and questions have raised about its labour practises.
Popular 90s brand returns to Australia
While the old H&M store in Brisbane’s Queen Street Mall has been gutted in preparation for its next incarnation (rumoured to be a Rebel store), Gap has officially returned to Australia online and at selected Myer stores.
The American retailer is renowned for its denim and logo tees, and its exactly these pieces that the Australian 2026 launch concentrates on after the brand closed its six local stores in 2018.
French luxury outwear comes to David Jones
If you’re looking for a contemporary yet timeless leather piece to add to your wardrobe, Parisian outerwear label Nour Hammour is the place to go.
Fortunately you don’t have to fly to Paris anymore, as David Jones has just started stocking the brand.
Okay, so there are only six designs stocked so far but one can only hope the range at David Jones will increase.
Frenzied shoppers storm Swatch stores
What was supposed to be the launch of a collaboration between watchmaking giants Audemars Piquet and Swatch has turned into a global melt-down as customers spent days this week queueing for a watch that cost AU$630, and that some are reselling for thousands.
Customers were pepper sprayed in New York and manhandled in Dubai as 30 stores around the world had to be closed to stop the frenzy of thousands at the door.
On their Instagram account, the company said “to ensure the safety of both our customers and our staff in Swatch stores, we kindly ask you to not rush to our stores in large numbers to acquire” the Royal Pop Collection.
LVMH buys Marc Jacobs

US designer Jacobs, who is credited for bringing the grunge look to the world, will remain in his role as managing director.
