With the runway to the Brisbane 2032 Games shortening, a peak body representing Queensland’s infrastructure industry is looking to gather on-the-ground intel around our readiness.

Infrastructure Association of Queensland (IAQ) Chief Executive Officer Tracy Mackey has called on infrastructure professionals and organisations to share their insights into the state of the sector in a new survey.

“With billions of dollars in infrastructure investment planned across the state it is critical that voices of councils, contractors and communities are heard,” Ms Mackey said.

She said the 2025 survey would build on the results of the group’s first survey last year, where 55 percent of respondents reported they lacked confidence in the industry’s capacity to deliver the infrastructure pipeline.

“We are keen to hear what has changed since our first survey in 2024.”

Ms Mackey said last year’s survey respondents called for better project sequencing, clearer pipeline visibility and stronger workforce development.

“With major announcements this year by the Queensland Government particularly around the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we want to hear about the challenges and opportunities facing infrastructure.”

She is urging leaders and businesses in the sector to report if workforce availability was improving, if supply chains were more reliable and whether major projects were getting the attention they needed to succeed.

“This survey is an opportunity for anyone working in infrastructure to provide insights across key areas of transport, energy, water, housing and health, as well as the upcoming 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”

Take the survey.
