All lanes on Brisbane’s Story Bridge have been reopened following the completion of maintenance work.

More than 70 workers took part in day and night shifts to complete concrete repairs and spray works, concrete curing, pothole repairs and asphalt depth testing.

The Story Bridge carries more than 100,000 passenger, public transport and freight vehicles each day.

The latest works are part of a “steady pipeline” of upgrades to the bridge.

The next stage will be a significant waterproofing project across the entire bridge deck along with a complete resurface.

This work will be done in late 2026-early 2027 to coincide with lower traffic volumes.

Meanwhile, a detailed business case to plan the 20-year restoration project is being progressed with the appointment of engineering experts ARUP in November 2025.
