A $153 million apartment project in Newstead is about to be built at 12 Kyabra Street, on the site of a former factory and later a boxing gym that burnt down in 2019.
Crest & Walker by national developers Fortis will be a 20-storey tower with 65 residences starting at $1.8 million.
Binah has been appointed as builder, with architecture and interior design by Bureau Proberts, and landscaping by Arcadia.

The project marks the fourth active development to be delivered by Fortis in Brisbane, following River House at Kangaroo Point, now nearing completion; a residential project in New Farm; and a mixed-use development in Racecourse Road, Hamilton.
Crest & Walker will be positioned behind the Triffid music venue and between Gasworks and James Street.
The design features a contemporary brick podium, softened with vertical greenery.
Residences will include two-bedroom, two-bathroom layouts with a single car space, The upper levels will offer three-bedrooms and three-bathrooms with two car spaces and city-skyline views.
A communal rooftop will feature a sun lounge and pool, BBQ facilities and a sauna set against panoramic views across Newstead and the Brisbane CBD.
Sales by agent Slaite Projects are scheduled to launch in May 2026.
