Surviving members of the original cast of the 1970s television series Charlie’s Angels will take part in a rare reunion to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the show.

Kate Jackson, 77, Jaclyn Smith, 80, and Cheryl Ladd, 74, will share a stage in April at the PaleyFest event in Los Angeles.

Charlie’s Angels, a show about three female private detectives, premiered in 1976 and ran for five years.

Movies based on the show, with different cast members, were released in 2000, 2003 and 2019.

Ladd replaced Farrah Fawcett during the second season when Fawcett left to pursue a movie career. Fawcett died of cancer in 2009.

In a joint statement published by People Magazine, Jackson said: “Charlie’s Angels surprised everyone when Farrah, Jackie and I hit the ground running (thanks, in part, to Farrah’s iconic poster) and the pilot went through the glass ceiling.

“Overnight, we were hailed with something akin to “rock star fame”. When Cheryl joined us in the second season, she added a special element uniquely hers and the crazy went on.”

They said, while the show was lighthearted, it “also quietly delivered the important message that women are just as capable as men”.
