Queensland Ballet’s first season under the artistic direction of Ivan Gil-Ortega has been announced for 2026.

The season celebrates ballet’s power to connect across generations, disciplines and cultures while honouring tradition and embracing innovation.

The program includes Verdi’s epic Messa da Requiem featuring more than 170 singers and Queensland Symphony Orchestra musicians, as well as Shakespeare’s gripping drama Hamlet with music by Tchaikovsky.

New work Elastic Hearts is set to Sia’s music with an orchestral score, while fairytale Red Riding Hood is given a fresh retelling.

And after 14 years at Queensland Ballet, The Nutcracker has been reimagined with new designs and fresh characters.

Season packages are available, including Duet which allows you to save up to 10 percent on Premium single tickets when you choose two ballet productions; and Encore which gives a 15 percent saving on three or more works.
