Production is under way on the largest-locally filmed television series, after filming of latest season of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters was moved to Queensland.
The next installment of the Legendary Entertainment series, set after a battle between Godzilla and the Titans leveled San Francisco, is set to create more than 1000 jobs and generate $115 million for the state’s economy.
State Arts Minister Leeanne Enoch said the production was a boost for small businesses who would help deliver accommodation, medical services, catering, security, transport and wardrobe supplies.
“As the largest television series to film in Queensland, this deal demonstrates the ability … to secure a pipeline of economy and job-boosting productions.”
Screen Queensland CEO Jacqui Feeney said the production consolidated Screen Queensland’s close relationship with Legendary Entertainment following recent feature films Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, Godzilla vs. Kong and Kong: Skull Island.
Ms Feeney said Monarch: Legacy of Monsters tracked two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organisation known as Monarch.
“The dramatic saga – spanning three generations – revealed buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.”
