Brisbane’s Melt Festival is back for 2025 after last year’s phenomenal debut celebration of the vibrant LGBTQIA+ arts and culture scene.
It will culminate in 1000 voices as choirs and singers are invited to participate in a powerful concert performance on November 9. Expressions of interest are now open.
The program includes crystal-studded cabaret icons, a river pride parade with flotillas, and major cultural moments for theatre and music lovers.
It kicks off with Demon Rhythm – a collection of 1000 images by Micah Rustichelli which have been taken from Instagram users and replicated by the artist. The exhibit is free and it runs from October 15 – November 9 at the Fairfax Studio, Brisbane Powerhouse.
Still Lives: Brisbane revisits the city’s punk and counterculture legacy, specifically The Saints and their single Stranded. From October 15 – November 9. Free at the Turbine Platform, Brisbane Powerhouse.
The Lucky Country, a rocking chamber musical that digs deep into the idea of Australia, identity and belonging. From October 22 – 25 at the Underground Theatre, Brisbane Powerhouse. For tickets click here.
Whitefella Yella Tree explores themes of love, country, and queerness set in the early 19th century. At La Boite from October 23 – November 8.
Critically acclaimed Broadway star Bernadette Peters returns for her first Australian performance in more than a decade in An Evening with Bernadette Peters accompanied by Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra at the Brisbane Convention Centre on October 24. Get your tickets here.
