The Caloundra Regional Gallery is hosting exhibitions by Sunshine Coast artists Nicole Voevodin-Cash and Erin Conron over the next five weeks.
Mapping Threads by Nicole Voevodin-Cash and Manipulating Vision by Erin Conron are on display until December 6, 2026,
Mapping Threads showcases sculpture, installation, participatory projects, public art and digital works – exploring how people connect with places, materials and each other.
Manipulating Vision showcases intricate glass works that explore the relationship between perception, light and material.
Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli said the exhibitions highlighted the quality and diversity of contemporary art being created on the Sunshine Coast.
“Nicole Voevodin-Cash and Erin Conron are remarkable artists whose work invites us to see the world in new ways,” Cr Natoli said.
“Our regional gallery showcases the creativity that makes the Sunshine Coast such a vibrant place to live, work and visit.”
Ms Conron, who works from a studio in Verrierdale, combines kiln-formed and blown glass techniques to create “visually striking works that challenge how we perceive space, depth and form”.
“Through the careful layering of hand-applied enamel lines across multiple planes of glass, she creates mesmerising optical effects that appear to shift, move and transform as viewers change their perspective,” the gallery said in a statement.
“These moiré-like patterns create illusions of movement and dimensionality, producing forms and spaces that seem to exist within the glass despite not physically being there.”
