John Farnham’s classic Whispering Jack album is back at number one on the ARIA “on replay” albums chart off the back of the tribute concert to honour the singer last week.
The 40th anniversary edition of the album is also at number two on the Vinyl Chart.
Whispering Jack is the third best-selling album of all time in Australia.
It spent 25 weeks at number one on the main albums chart in 1986-87, the longest run by any Australian album.
It has been topped only by Meatloaf’s Bat Out Of Hell and Shania Twain’s Come On Over.
In other chart news, Beabadoobee has debuted at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart with Pylon.
Pylon is the fourth studio album and first top five album from the Filipino-born artist.
She previously reached number 19 in 2022 with Beatopia and number 6 in 2024 with This Is How Tomorrow Moves.
Miley Cyrus (now known as just Miley) has entered the albums chart at number two with Bass Persuades.
It is her 10th album. Breakout reached number one in 2008, Bangerz hit the top spot in 2013 and Endless Summer Vacation was number one in 2023.
Sydney punk rock band C.O.F.F.I.N. has debuted at number 8 with Out In Oslo and American country singer Riley Green is new at number 14 with That’s Just Me.
On the Singles Chart, Ella Langley’s Choosin’ Texas is number one for the 15th non-consecutive week. It is one of only eight songs to hit number one this year with Olivia Dean’s Man I Need still leading with 18 weeks.
The Killers’ Mr Brightside has stayed at number one on the On Replay Singles Chart.
