Undeterred by TikTok’s potential ban in the United States, legendary signer-songwriter Bob Dylan made his first appearance on the social media platform this week.
American music publisher Billboard reported the 83-year-old made his debut sharing a single post featuring numerous clips, stills, and record covers from his lengthy career.
While his appearance on the app coincides with the release of the Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, many users questioned how long he had on the platform.
Billboard stated TikTok was facing an imminent ban because the American government was worried about its Chinese ownership.
“After the Supreme Court last month agreed to hear TikTok’s challenge to the law that would either force ByteDance to sell the app or bar it from the U.S., the Court’s imminent decision means that if the law is upheld, ByteDance will be forced to sell off the app or face a ban on Sunday (January 19).”
Regardless, Dylan’s future looks rosy, with Billboard reporting audience response to A Complete Unknown had seen his catalogue secure 11.6 million on-demand streams in the United States in the week ending December 26.
