Cirque du Soleil returns to its origins with breathtaking acrobatics combined with the timeless art of clowning when KOOZA premiers in Brisbane tomorrow.
The name KOOZA comes from the Sanskrit word “koza,” meaning “box” or “treasure,” symbolising the concept of a “circus in a box.”
Bursting with colour, comedy and thrills, KOOZA explores identity, fear, recognition and power through a spectacular world where anything feels possible.
Now in its 19th year, the production began in Montreal, Canada in 2007 and has been performed for more than 10 million people in 87 cities.
The show’s soundtrack blends 1970s funk, orchestral arrangements and traditional Indian music, all performed live each night.
Most of the 175 costumes and 160 hats were handcrafted and designed in Cirque du Soleil’s Montréal workshop.
The international cast of 53 artists travel with a touring team of more than 120 people, supported by two performance medicine specialists, and a full kitchen serving two meals a day to 200 cast, crew and staff.
Around 2500 people are expected to fill the Big Top at Eagle Farm, and it takes seven days to set up and three days to dismantle the site which covers 17,000 sq m.
