Brisbane will host the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo for the first time next year to celebrate the iconic event’s 75th anniversary.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo CEO Jason Barrett said the event would make its return to Australia for the first time since 2019 with the Tattoo’s first-ever performance in Brisbane.

Mr Barrett said the spectacular, to be held at Suncorp Stadium on February 12 and 14, 2026, was one of its most ambitious international Stadium productions to date.

“Bringing the Tattoo to Brisbane for the first time, as part of our 75th anniversary, is a landmark moment in our history,” he said.

“This is a celebration of the human spirit, of shared identity, and of the heroes who shape our communities.”

Queensland Tourism Minister Andrew Powell said the event reinforced Brisbane’s growing reputation as a global destination for major cultural moments.

“Renowned for stirring music, military precision, cultural displays, and dramatic performances set against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is a global phenomenon, drawing over 230,000 spectators annually in Scotland and over 100 million more worldwide through international broadcasts,” Minister Powell said.

He said hundreds of thousands had flocked to previous Australian editions of the Tattoo in Sydney (2005, 2010, 2019) and Melbourne (2016).

“The Tattoo will be a huge drawcard for Queenslanders who want to see a piece of history and for families looking for an amazing experience, and it emphasises once again that Queensland is one of the world’s most exciting tourism destinations.”

Tourism and Events Queensland CEO Craig Davison said hosting the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo was a major coup for Brisbane and a testament to Queensland’s world-class event credentials.

“Bringing the grandeur and spirit of the Tattoo to Brisbane is a powerful moment for us in its global journey and an exciting cultural milestone for our state.”
