Australian artists have recorded their strongest week this year on the ARIA albums chart.

Four artists have debuted in the top 15, including Amy Shark whose Sunday Sadness album entered the charts at number one.

She was joined by Grinspoon with Whatever, Whatever at number three, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard with Flight b741 at eight and First Nations hip hop collective 3% (Corey “Nookey” Webster, Dallas Woods and Angus Field) at 12 with Kill The Dead.

Sunday Sadness is Shark’s fourth studio album and third chart-topper. She hit number one in 2018 with Love Monster and topped the charts again in 2021 with Cry Forever.

The new album coincides with her national tour kicking off in October.

ARIA CEO, Annabelle Herd, said Australian artists had now been at the top of the charts for three straight weeks.

This, combined with the four top 15 Aussie debuts, was “an unbelievable result that our whole industry should be proud of”.

Grinspoon’s success follows after a 12-year hiatus. The group formed in  Lismore NSW in 1995 and have had seven top 10 albums.

Filipino-born English singer and songwriter Beabadoobee entered the charts at number six with This Is How Tomorrow Moves.

On the Singles Chart, Billie Eilish hit number one with Birds Of A Feather.

Following the return to the charts of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Murder On The Dancefloor earlier this year, *NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye has re-entered at number 20 after it was used in the Deadpool & Wolverine movie.
