Almost 50 Queensland artists have registered for a national day of giving to support the arts scene next week.
More than 300 artists and arts organisations have registered to participate in AusArt Day 2025, on October 23, with 46 of those based in the Sunshine State.
Creative Australia Chair and AusArt Day Ambassador Professor Wesley Enoch said AusArt Day was a new nationwide moment for artists and arts organisations to come together, raise funds, and celebrate creativity.
“It really makes a difference when your community gets behind you,” Professor Enoch said.
“I’ve been involved in arts and culture my whole working life and can tell you first hand the support of others matters.”
She said AusArt Day was a chance for Australians to show their support by getting behind the “musicians, painters, dancers, actors, singers, sculptors, writers and all the creative people who make our country so vibrant and fun to be a part of”.
Professor Enoch said Creative Australia was supporting AusArt Day by contributing $500,000 in microgrants upfront, alongside resources, workshops, and advertising materials to help participants prepare fundraising campaigns.
She said participating artists could be found on the AusArt Day website.
