Screen Queensland will open its state-of-the art film and television studio in Cairns on April 27.

In a region boasting a range of stunning locations, from lush tropical rainforests to white sandy beaches and remote island oases, Far North Queensland will be home to the 1.5ha complex located minutes from the Cairns CBD, in the suburb of Portsmith.

The studio complements Screen Queensland Studios in Brisbane and other facilities on the Gold Coast.

Studio development was sparked by high demand from Australian and international productions to film in this part of the world,

Screen Queensland Studios, Cairns will house a 1070sqm sound stage, production office, editing suites and a sound recording studio as well as facilities for construction and wardrobe.

The complex will also feature an event space and tenant suites.
