Caboolture bus patrons can now use their credit cards to pay for fares, with the first trial of new contactless payment methods on South East Queensland buses underway.
In a statement, Translink said customers travelling on Caboolture Bus Lines (CBL) could now pay for travel using Visa, Mastercard or American Express debit or credit cards, including cards in the digital wallet of smart devices.
“The Smart Ticketing launch on CBL follows the successful rollout of Smart Ticketing trials on SEQ trains, trams and Brisbane River ferries,” Translink said.
“Customers have quickly adopted the new technology across our public transport network, recording more than 17.5 million trips using contactless payments to date with uptake continuing to increase.”
The statement said customers transferring between a SEQ train and CBL buses no longer needed their go card to pay for travel, but were reminded to tap on at the start of their journey and tap off at the end of each trip.
“If you are transferring to another bus operator that is not yet participating in the Smart Ticketing trial, please continue to use your go card.”
It said Smart Ticketing trials would be progressively activated for travel on all remaining SEQ buses and Southern Moreton Bay Island ferries, with regional buses to follow.
