Ipswich was worth it as L’Oreal opens centre

Ipswich is home to a new $40 million distribution centre, with cosmetics giant L’Oreal opening its second Australian hub in the city.

The 14,533 sqm facility, in the suburb of Redbank, will service customers in Queensland, the Northern Territory and New South Wales and complement the company’s current distribution centre in Victoria.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding the $40 million investment in the region would support about 60 new jobs and reinforced the city’s reputation as an attractive city for businesses and industry.

“Attracting L’Oreal Groupe to Ipswich is another sign that businesses have confidence in Ipswich as we continue to boost to our supply chain resilience and provide opportunities for our residents to work where they live.”

L’Oreal Groupe ANZ CEO Alex Davison said the new site would enhance local capabilities and ensure the company could cut delivery times across key states and bring down transport emissions across the board.

“Australia and New Zealand, collectively, was one of the top growing markets for us globally last year, and there’s still untapped potential for L’Oreal. This is why we’re continuing to invest locally, and this new distribution centre is a prime example of this,” Mr Davison said.

He said the location of the site in South East Queensland also offered benefits, with booming population growth and infrastructure developments taking place across the state.

“We’ve selected South East Queensland as a strategic location for our new distribution centre because it enables us to be closer to our customers and opens up access to key domestic transport routes. We’re grateful to our partners TMX Global and Goodman Group, for their support in sourcing this location, which offers an abundance of capacity and is just a mere 30 mins outside of the Brisbane CBD.”
