Brisbane rail commuters will have access to Australia Post parcel lockers at a number of south-east Queensland stations under a 12-month trial.
A partnership between Queensland Rail (QR) and Australia Post will see free 24/7 parcel lockers installed at Eagle Junction, Varsity Lakes, Carseldine, Central and Richlands stations.
QR General Manager Station Customer Service Drew Brock said customers would be able to collect their parcels from the secure lockers any time within 48 hours.
“The first station to have the lockers installed is Eagle Junction, with customers now able to collect their parcels for free on their way to or from work,” Mr Brock said.
He said lockers would be installed at the other four locations over the next months.
“We know in this busy world, convenience is important and it can be frustrating to stay home waiting for a parcel to be delivered or to leave work early to try and pick it up from a post office,” Mr Brock said.
“From a commercial perspective we are always interested in exploring opportunities that have the dual benefit of enhancing customer amenities and convenience and offers a commercial return that supports the cost of our operations.”
Commuters wanting to access the lockers can sign up by visiting the Australia Post website or download the AusPost app.
