The City of Gold Coast’s inaugural Sundown music festival this weekend will feature a host of homegrown talent.
The Rions, will be joined by the likes of Hope D, Buttered, Chutney, Jem Cassar-Daley, Lyric and DJ Cory Hotline at the free pop-up event in Nerang St, Southport on Saturday.
The musos, many from Triple J’s Unearthed and Hottest 100!, will hit the stage from 2pm to 8.30pm.
Gold Coast Division 6 Councillor Brooke Patterson said Sundown was an event for all-ages.
“You don’t need a ticket, so just turn up on the day and make music memories,” Cr Patterson said.
“The local line-up is going to bring the streets of Southport alive with music you’ll be familiar with from Triple J.”
Cr Patterson said the city had a vision for Southport to become a live music hub, through a vibrant collection of live music, arts, food and entertainment.
“Sundown is one of many live music events we plan to host within Southport Special Entertainment Precinct to bring this dream alive.”
She said the city’s live music industry had been thriving following the launch of the Music Action Plan, which contributed $3.25 million towards the local industry, providing support to live music venues and musicians as well as promoting local live music globally.
