McCullough Robertson Lawyers (McR) has announced the appointment of Tim Longwill as the firm’s Pro Bono Partner.
Mr Longwill is a senior partner at McR and has been actively involved in its pro bono program during his 25 years at the firm.
This has included providing advice to not-for-profit and charitable Boards on employment and industrial matters.
Mr Longwill is also a Management Committee member for LawRight, a not-for-profit community legal centre established in 2001 with McCullough Robertson as a founding member.
“Our pro bono program is an expression of our values of generosity, commitment and being down to earth,” he said.
“It also provides opportunities for our staff to broaden their experience and give back to those in need, which our people really value.
“I am honoured to be appointed to this role and look forward to continuing to build the firm’s pro bono program and deliver impactful outcomes for the communities in which we live and work.”
McCullough Robertson has been involved in the community since its founding in 1926.
Founding partners Robert McCullough and Jock Robertson held many community-based roles, including on the Barcaldine Hospital Board and Red Cross.
As well as its pro bono work, the firm supports the community through scholarships, Community Legal Clinics, providing secondees, connecting organisations with shared purpose and creating conversations beyond the law.
McR Chair of Partners Kristan Conlon said Mr Longwill’s appointment was an exciting development for the firm and would reinforce its community partnerships program.
This program is based around sustainability, diversity and inclusion, health and mental health, and access to justice and community arts.
“Long-term relationships with our clients and our community partners are part of our DNA and it has been a privilege to support those partners as they have grown and delivered outcomes for marginalised and disadvantaged people in our community,” Ms Conlon said.
“I am excited to see where our pro bono program can be taken under Tim’s leadership, as we head towards our centenary.”
