Queensland’s 28th Governor Thomas Bradley was sworn in at a ceremony at Parliament House today.
Mr Bradley was a Court of Appeal Judge, a sitting Judge of the Supreme Court, and a member of the Supreme Court Library Legal Heritage Subcommittee.
He has experience in leading community roles, including as ambassador for the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art Foundation Committee, Brisbane Festival Giving Committee and ambassador of the Pinnacle Foundation.
He succeeds Dr Jeannette Young who has completed her five-year term of office.
Premier David Crisafulli said Mr Bradley’s new role was the next step in a lifetime of service.
“As a proud Queenslander with strong connections to communities across the State, Mr Bradley understands the unique challenges and what is needed to bring us together in times of hardship,” Mr Crisafulli said.
“On behalf of the people of Queensland, I congratulate Mr Bradley and wish him every success as Queensland’s 28th Governor.”
Mr Crisafulli also paid tribute to Dr Young for her service.
“On behalf of Queenslanders, I thank Dr Young for her exemplary service to Queensland over the years, and wish her well moving forward.”
