Community organisations hosting Christmas parties, lunches and social outings are eligible to apply for the Lord Mayor’s new Community Celebration Donation.
Launching for the first time this year, the donation will give eligible community groups between $150 and $350 to help bring people together and celebrate the end of year festivities.
Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the new donation was about helping fund the smaller things that could make a big difference.
“Even a few hundred dollars can go a long way for a volunteer-run community group, and we hope this helps more Brisbane residents come together and celebrate this festive season,” Cr Schrinner said.
Funding can go towards Christmas parties, community lunches, excursions, bus trips and other gatherings that give residents a chance to connect.
The donation is open to community groups that run activities for Brisbane residents, including groups that are part of a larger organisation.
The funding will also be available to smaller, more casual groups who bring the community together, like run clubs.
Applications close on 9 November. For more information click here.
