The macabre works of poet Edgar Allen Poe will be performed as part of an immersive Gothic cocktail experience at the Judith Wright Centre.

The journey of dark literature focuses on four works written by US-born Poe who is often referenced as one of the pioneers of the short story, detective, and science fiction genres.

Each of the works will be paired with a classic cocktail.

The first story is Tell-Tale Heart – (1843) a short story told by an unnamed narrator who tries to convince the reader of the narrator’s sanity while also describing a murder the narrator has committed.

The Black Cat – (1843) also a short story in which an unnamed alcoholic narrator abuses pets.

The Raven – (1845) was the poem that made Poe famous overnight. It tells the story of a distraught lover who is paid a visit by a mysterious raven.

The night finishes with The Masque of the Red Death  – (1842) a short story which follows Prince Prospero’s attempts to avoid a dangerous plague.

The performance runs from November 7, 2026 – February 13, 2027. For tickets, click here.
