Brisbane has secured a 2027 International Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses which will attract more than 30,000 attendees.

The event is expected to inject $28 Million into the local economy. It will be held at Suncorp Stadium from July 2-4, 2027.

Organisers said the event would draw more than 5000 overseas visitors from 18 countries across the Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America.

Brisbane was chosen after a competitive process that considered venue capability, accommodation capacity, transport infrastructure and visitor experience.

Jehovah’s Witnesses Australia spokesperson Tom Pecipajkovski said these international events were as much about people and cultural exchange as they were about the program itself.

“Like most Australians, Jehovah’s Witnesses love coming together for a special event,” he said.

“This will be an opportunity for thousands to experience a new city, enjoy the local food, lifestyle and culture, and make lasting friendships. We couldn’t think of a better welcome to Australia for our overseas visitors.”

Minister for Tourism Andrew Powell said the Queensland Government was proud to support the event through Tourism and Events Queensland.

“Queensland continues to be the destination of choice for business events, and this is another vote of confidence in Brisbane as a world-class host city,” he said.

“It’s also an opportunity to showcase the very best of Queensland and inspire visitors to return and holiday in our state.”
