A re-edited version of last weekend’s The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend – The Celebration Concert will be aired by HOYTS cinemas.
The cinema chain streamed the concert live from Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, attracting more than 23,000 people to the sessions.
In a statement, HOYTS described the demand as “extraordinary” with sessions selling out rapidly and additional screenings added.
HOYTS General Manager of Programming and Content, Michelle Gater, said the response reflected Australians’ enduring connection with John Farnham and his music.
She said a re-edited version of the concert would return to HOYTS for an encore season, with details to be announced soon.
“When the concert sold out so quickly, we were honoured to help extend this special celebration beyond Rod Laver Arena and give fans across Australia the opportunity to experience it together in cinemas,” Ms Gater said.
“Delivering a live broadcast simultaneously across cinemas nationally was a significant undertaking and required an enormous collaborative effort from everyone involved.
“It was incredibly special to see cinemas filled with John Farnham fans coming together to share in the celebration, and we’re very proud to have played a part in making that possible.”
