A sold-out John Farnham tribute concert will be screened live at Hoyts cinemas across the country on September 20, 2026.
The Songs of John Farnham: A Living Legend – The Celebration Concert is being staged at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.
The concert, with a lineup of national and international acts, sold out quickly.
HOYTS announced this week that it had partnered with producers Cochrane Entertainment and TEG Dainty to live stream the event to cinemas across Australia.
The show features more than 120 artists and musicians.
They include Vanessa Amorosi, Tina Arena, Jimmy Barnes, Mahalia Barnes, Kate Ceberano, Diesel, Rob Farnham, Dannielle Gaha, Hans, Human Nature, Jack Jones, Richard Marx, Jessica Mauboy, Ruby Rodgers, Jon Stevens, Mitch Tambo, Keith Urban, Mark Vincent and Ross Wilson, with Celine Dion and Hugh Jackman appearing remotely for their performances.
The show is being staged under the musical direction of Farnham’s longtime collaborator Chong Lim.
John Farnham, who is one of Australia’s most successful performers over six decades, has confirmed he will not return to stage performances following his battle with oral cancer.
The Melbourne event is to honour his musical legacy.
Tickets for the live cinema broadcast are already on sale at hoyts.com.au.
HOYTS Group General Manager of Programming and Content Michelle Gater said the live cinema event would allow people to come together “to be part of an extraordinary moment in Australian music history”.
“John Farnham’s music is woven into the lives of generations of Australians, and this promises to be an uplifting, powerful celebration of his remarkable legacy,” she said.
“This is far more than a concert screening.
“There is something incredibly special about Australians experiencing an event of this scale together on the big screen.”
Cochrane Entertainment’s Show Producer Tony Cochrane said the extraordinary response to this concert showed how deeply Farnham’s music continued to resonate with Australians.
“We wanted this celebration to be something truly special, and now, through Hoyts, we have the opportunity to share that experience with John’s fans right across Australia,” he said.
