K-pop-inspired girl group Katseye has broken through with their first number one single on the Australia ARIA charts.
Animal, co-written by Ed Sheeran, jumped from number 13 to the top this week after peaking at number eight last month.
It is the US-based group’s biggest hit to date, surpassing Pinky Up, which peaked at number 19 earlier this year.
American singer Phoebe Bridgers’ third album, Lost Weekend, was number one on the ARIA Albums Chart.
The top selling Australian album was Paradise by Peking Duk, which was also number six on the main album chart.
Queensland’s Kate Miller-Heidke returned to the charts with The Kiss And The Abyss at number 11 on the main album chart.
It is her sixth studio album following Little Eve (which peaked at number 11 in 2007), Curiouser (number two in 2008), Nightflight (number two in 2012), O Vertigo! (number four in 2014) and Child In Reverse (number nine in 2020).
Marilyn Manson’s One Assassination Under God – Chapter 2 debuted at 13, higher than the first album under the theme which peaked at number 44 two years ago.
British band Jungle are new at number nine with Sunshine.
Grinspoon singer-guitarist Phil Jamieson’s second solo album, 10Charlie joined the charters at number 18.
The winners of the People’s Choice award at the Tamworth Country Music Festival 2024, indie folk and roots duo Sunday Lemonade debuted at number 43 with their first album, The Forest To The Sea.
Tame Impala collected his second top 10 this year with Loser rising from number 11 to number seven, fuelled by its use in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie.
