The Straddie Arts Trail is returning for its fifth year later this month.
From August 14-16 visitors to North Stradbroke Island (aka Minjerribah) can enjoy art, design, storytelling and connection.
There are more than 70 creative activities across 33 stops spanning Dunwich, Amity Point and Point Lookout.
Creative Director Cath Carroll said the event continued to grow because it reflected the extraordinary creative community that existed on the Island.
“The Straddie Arts Trail is about more than art,” she said.
“It’s about sharing stories, creating connections and celebrating the people and places that make this island so special.
“Whether you’re meeting an artist in their studio, joining a workshop, discovering an emerging creative or simply enjoying the journey between venues, the trail offers a uniquely Straddie experience.”
Among the arts trail participants is Quandamooka artist Delvene Cockatoo-Collins, the artist-in-residence at North Stradbroke Island Museum. Delvene will present work inspired by family histories and museum collections.
Ngugi artist Elisa Jane Carmichael will present Held in Blue, created with artist Renata Buziak.
Visitors are being encouraged to visit QUAMPI, Minjerribah’s new First Nations-owned arts and cultural centre, for the final weekend of its current exhibition.
Other participants include:
- Lauri Anderson will present new work from Seventeenth Door Studio alongside fellow artist Kieron Anderson.
- At Amity Point’s Soul Lodge Gallery long-time island painter Robyn Olsen will be artist-in-residence sharing vibrant landscapes.
- Dunwich Apartments residency presents ceramic artist Michaela Kloeckner.
- Michele Kordic will display her landscape paintings at Straddie Brewing Co.
Organisations taking part include:
- North Stradbroke Island Golf Club will host the Straddie Arts Trail High Tea.
- The Tidal Archive 2026 will bring together island designers Cath Carroll, Sarah Van Der Ryst of Sunfolk Swimwear and ceramicist Melany Cordier, celebrating island life through ceramics, textiles, swimwear and collected objects inspired by the sea.
- The Straddie Brewery Co Rooftop will screen Subdivision, a comedy set in Hervey Bay with the audience invited to meet the film’s screen-writers.
Paula Boo Studios, Jess Scott of Starfish Studio, artist Chris Hooper, the Straddie Markets, and the North Stradbroke Island Golf Club’s 2026 Minjerribah Photography Awards will also be part of the action.
