Fans feel heartache of Bonnie Tyler’s death

It’s a Heartache singer Bonnie Tyler, 75, has died following an illness that had previously left her in a coma in a hospital in Portugal.

Her official social media channels published the following announcement last night:

“Bonnie’s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for.”

Last month Tyler’s team announced that the singer was no longer in a coma, but remained “very unwell” and in intensive care in hospital in Portugal.

Tyler was born in Wales as Gaynor Sullivan in 1951 and was known for her distinctive husky voice.

She had early hits in the 1970s with Lost in France, More Than a Lover and the 1977 top 10 hit It’s a Heartache.

In the 1980s, she had her biggest hit Total Eclipse of the Heart which sold over 13 million copies worldwide.

Her other major 1980s hit was Holding Out for a Hero.
