Brisbane’s top three hotspots for illegal dumping enforcement in 2026 are Mount Coot-tha, Mount Gravatt and Richlands, with more than 853 infringements or warnings issued.
Illegal dumping complaints were highest in Moorooka, Sunnybank Hills and New Farm, with more than 836 reports from the community.
There has been a 235 percent increase in the number of offenders identified according to the Brisbane City Council, with more than $525,000 in fines issued in 2026.
This has been helped by a surge in community reporting and the introduction of an additional 25 cameras, with more than 200 cameras operating across known dumping hotspots.
The council has also installed 125 illegal dumping signs across Brisbane and introduced a dedicated illegal dumping collection truck, decreasing the average response time from 18 days to four.
Illegal dumping includes household rubbish, green waste, construction material or toxic substances which can contaminate waterways, damage bushland and create serious public health risks.
Residents wanting to dispose large items can do so on free kerbside collection days, weekly and fortnightly bin collections, dedicated hazardous waste drop-off days and free waste vouchers.
To report illegal dumping call the Council contact centre on 3403 8888 or visit the website.
