Two blasts-from-the-past music icons have made a return to the Australian music charts.

Neil Diamond’s “new” Wild At Heart album debuted at number 29.

Michael Jackson continues to rule the On Replay charts, with Thriller the number one album and Bad at number two.

Jackson also tops the On Replay singles chart with Billie Jean and Beat It holding the number one and two positions respectively.

Billie Jean was the first single from Thriller and spent five weeks at number one on the main ARIA Singles Chart in 1983.

The new interest comes off the back of the release of the Michael movie at cinemas and the ongoing MJ The Musical and several touring tribute acts.

Neil Diamond stopped touring and dialled back his studio activity when he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2018.

Wild At Heart was recorded in 2007 but was not released at the time. It is now Diamond’s 35th studio album and the final in a trilogy of collaborations with producer Rick Rubin.

The tracks were originally recorded during the sessions for the 2008 album Home Before Dark.

Previously Diamond said the Wild At Heart recordings were too “raw” for public release.

Elsewhere, Noah Kahan’s The Great Divide holds at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart for the third consecutive week.

Australian singer and guitarist Katherine Halloran made her chart debut with her first album, Nobody’s Baby, coming in at number 26 on the Albums Chart and number two on the Australian artists albums chart.
