The Gateway Marina at Burnett Heads, north of Bundaberg, has been resurrected and will include a 318-berth marina, waterfront residential community, short- and long-term accommodation and a mix of retail, dining and tourism.
Project developer Simon Harvey has reacquired the development after a previous partnership dispute that placed the project into receivership in 2024.
“My belief in the region and the potential of the Boat Harbour has only strengthened – for boat owners, local businesses, and the broader community,” Mr Harvey said.
‘While the journey to get to this point has been lengthy, complex, and at times exhausting, this is a project that was worth fighting for.

The marina has deep water access and natural harbour protection, giving it reliable all-weather access and shelter, and creating a safe environment for recreational and commercial vessel berthing.
Mr Harvey said Bellingham Marina Australia would be the delivery partner for Stage One.
It includes 88 private berths catering to vessels from 10 to 22 metres long, and four commercial berths, as well as a full-service dock with unleaded and diesel fuel.
Expressions of interest are now open for leasing the private berths from the end of 2026, with allocations made on a first-in, first-served basis.
Bundaberg Mayor Helen Blackburn said the marina was significant for the region in terms of job creation and tourism.
“The Burnett Heads Boat Harbour is a unique regional asset, and this development has the potential to unlock its full value for both the local community and visitors,” Councillor Blackburn said.
