Bold and experimental Chinese art which examines questions of identity, censorship, memory, tradition and transformation is on at the Home of the Arts (HOTA).
The exhibition titled This Moment: Highlights from the White Rabbit Collection of Chinese Contemporary Art brings together 25 artists showcasing 35 artworks in a significant display.
HOTA Gallery General Manager David Don said the private collection was internationally recognised for its fearless and influential approach to contemporary art.
“This exhibition allows visitors a rare opportunity to engage with some of the most compelling and globally significant artistic voices working today,” Mr Don said.
The exhibition was inspired by the 2009 Yan Jun poem titled THIS MOMENT and includes sound and light-based installations, video, photography, painting and monumental sculptures.
Featured artists include Geng Xue, Guo Jian, Lu Yang, Peng Hung-Chih, Xu Zhen, Zhang Dali, and Zhang Peili.
A public program of talks, tours and workshops will accompany the exclusive exhibition, offering deeper insight into the artists, ideas and cultural contexts shaping the works on display.
In addition, HOTA’s Palette restaurant has unveiled its 12th exhibition tasting menu with dishes that use the techniques, ingredients and flavours of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
The exhibition runs at HOTA on the Gold Coast from April 18 – October 11, 2026. 10am-4pm daily. Entry is free.
